| If you were like me who is quite particular to having a consistent naming in the SQL Server database, and not having those pesky GUIDs. PerformancePoint Service Application is one of the Service Applications that would append GUID to the service application database. And I would have to go through a few steps to remove those GUID.
Well no more, as of SharePoint 2010 SP1, there is no more GUID for PerformancePoint Service Application database created through Central Administration UI.

| As I am trying to install SharePoint 2010 on SQL 2012 RC0, I did not get the normal installation option: Standalone or Server Farm. I was so quick to assume that I have missed that step and re-install the SharePoint 2010.
Yet again, I was not presented with the option. Thanks to Todd Klindt's post on Installing SharePoint 2010 on a Domain Controller, apparently, if you are installing SharePoint 2010 on a Domain Controller, you will get Server Farm install by default.
Hope this helps when you are setting up your development environment.
Cheers,

| I have been so swamped with work lately that I have missed the notification on the changes on my blog hosting provider. When I notice it, it is already too late.
Well, I am taking this chance to move my blog to SharePoint, thanks to fpweb.net for sponsoring me :)
Now that SharePoint Conference Asia 2011 is over, I hope I could ramp up my posting as well as re-posting some of my past articles. So stay tuned and more goodness to come next year, when 2012 is here.
Cheers,
Steve Sofian

| I will be speaking at the SharePoint Conference SEA 2011. This is the second South East Asia SharePoint Conference that I am a member of the organizing committee as well as a speaker. Looking forward to another great conference!
Topic:
Whether it’s dashboards, content publishing, or day-to-day collaboration, SharePoint’s web pages usually contain lots of web parts. Using traditional post-back techniques to refresh a single web part’s content is both slow and visually annoying. This session will cover what’s possible using AJAX, custom web services, client object model and jQuery to spice up the SharePoint web parts that you’re cooking. Boom! Technical - D
